GREENBURGH – When the Rangers boarded their charter flight for Raleigh Thursday, they were planning on having a new face aboard.
In an attempt to shore up their abysmal penalty-killing unit, Rangers GM Jeff Gorton made a low-cost, low-risk move, signing former Boston Bruins left winger Daniel Paille.
As the Rangers have tried to gain some traction – in Carolina Friday they will try to put together back-to-back wins for the first time since Nov. 21-23 – and as they have made strides in the level in their play, their special teams have repeatedly let them down and cost them points.
