The NHL’s July 30th start for the start of the qualifying rounds could be in jeopardy. After last week’s reveal that 11 players have tested positive for COVID-19 including superstar Auston Matthews and the shutting down of the Lightning’s training facility we may have to wait longer for on-ice action.

I spoke with a league source this weekend about the qualifying rounds starting on July 30th. What was relayed is that’s the date should there be no significant changes with COVID-19. It is important to note that the NHL, as well as other leagues are experiencing serious upticks in positive tests.
