Rangers' Rick Nash leaves practice after 'twisting his back'

DENVER – The Rangers gave it the old college try Thursday morning with a high-paced practice at the University of Denver’s Magness Arena, borrowing the Pioneers’ ice to acclimate themselves to Colorado’s high altitude for Friday night’s face-off with the Avalanche.

Snake-bitten scorer Rick Nash was able to laugh about Capitals forward Marcus Johansson stealing a goal from him in Tuesday night’s win at the Garden by deflecting a pass intended for Nash into an open Washington net.

“It’s close,” Nash smirked, with just one empty-net goal awarded on a defender’s penalty in 12 games. “It’s getting closer.
