Rangers’ Raanta discloses concussion hell: Just ‘stare through the window’

NASHVILLE, Tenn.—The way Antti Raanta described it, he sure seems lucky to return to the ice as quickly as he did.

The Rangers’ backup goalie suffered a concussion when he was hit in the helmet with a hard slap shot from Wild defenseman Marco Scandella on Dec. 17 in Minnesota. He went down to the ice and left the game, unable to play or dress for the next three games that led into the Christmas break.

But Raanta was back on the ice for Sunday’s practice and will be dressed on Monday night, when the Blueshirts take on the Predators at Bridgestone Arena.
