Rangers’ prospects make noise in otherwise ugly loss to Capitals

It was an ugly night for the Rangers, but a bright showing from two of their prized prospects.

Lias Andersson scored and Filip Chytil had an assist in the Rangers’ 4-2 loss to the Capitals on Monday night at the Garden. It was the first career point for both teenagers.

Andersson is the 19-year-old Swedish center the Rangers took with the No. 7-overall pick in this most recent draft and he was making his NHL debut. Chytil, 18, was the No. 21-overall pick who made the team out of training camp and played two games early in the season before being sent down to AHL Hartford on Oct.
