The Rangers have placed forward Ville Meskanen on unconditional waivers with the intention of terminating his contract once he clears. Usually things like this are mutual.
Meskanen, signed as an undrafted free agent in 2018, was actually viewed as a potential sleeper, but clearly that never materialized. Meskanen had a decent year last season with Hartford, putting up 12-22-34 in 70 games. This year is a completely different story, with Meskanen putting up just four assists in 20 games so far.
Ryan Gropp was recalled from Maine to take Meskanen’s spot on the roster.
