Oscar Lindberg will likely miss at least the first six weeks of the Rangers’ 2016-17 season after undergoing a simultaneous bilateral hip labral repair Friday.
The 24-year-old Swede, who played the final two games of the first round against the Penguins after sitting out the first three matches as a healthy scratch (as he was for 11 of the final 13 regular-season games), recorded 13 goals and 15 assists for 28 points in his rookie season.
The hip issues, corrected by Dr. Bryan Kelly at Hospital of Special Surgery, were a result of wear and tear rather than a single incident.
