Rangers Notebook: Kevin Klein says he will play vs. Flyers

Kevin Klein said he is “definitely ready to play” with a fractured right thumb Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.

The Rangers defenseman said his thumb doesn’t require surgery and “can’t get any worse,” even though Tuesday night’s incident in Newark was “one of the more painful injuries I’ve ever had.”

“After the game, when the (doctors) were going through what possibly could happen, I was not happy obviously,” Klein said Friday afternoon following practice in Greenburgh. “Most of the time it goes the other way. This time it went the right way. So I’m happy with that.”

Klein, 31, jammed his thumb into the boards after a hit by Devils forward Reid Boucher late in the third period of Tuesday night’s 3-2 loss.
