Rangers No. 3 goalie’s injury could squash Talbot trade

If the Rangers are going to try to trade Cam Talbot, it might have to wait awhile.

The team announced Tuesday that Mackenzie Skapski, nicknamed “The Buffalo Killer” by coach Alain Vigneault, had arthroscopic surgery to repair a labral tear in his right hip. The procedure was performed at Hospital for Special Surgery in Manhattan.

Skapski, who will turn 21 on June 15, is expected to be sidelined for four-to-five months.

Skapski was called up to be Talbot’s backup for two months when starter Henrik Lundqvist was dealing with a blood vessel injury in the back of his neck.
