Emerson Etem’s career with the New York Rangers was less than thrilling to say the least.
A former first round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2010, Etem came to the Rangers with little fanfare and a few expectations, but couldn’t manage to live up to even those.
“It’s clear that Emerson got off to a tough start here and it just never seemed to gain any traction,” Rangers general manager Jeff Gorton told blueshirtsunited.com.
His tenure with the Rangers came to an end on Friday night with the news that he had been traded to the Vancouver Canucks for winger Nick Jensen and a sixth-round pick in the 2017 NHL Draft.
