Rangers forwards Nathan Gerbe and Josh Jooris reportedly have options overseas if they don’t make the final training camp cuts.
According to the Swiss newspaper Tribune de Geneve, Gerbe signed a contract last summer with Geneve-Servette, which was “dissolved” when the center signed a one-year, $600,000 contract with the Blueshirts in July.
But the Swiss team, which may be looking for a replacement for former NHLer Mike Santorelli, retains his rights and would be interested in signing him if the Rangers allow it.
The Rangers have an abundance of depth forwards, and Gerbe, 29, a quality penalty killer who had 29 goals and 37 assists in 206 games with the Carolina Hurricanes in the last three seasons, is certainly in the mix to be on the opening-night roster.
