Luck was on the Rangers' side Tuesday night in the NHL draft lottery.
The Blueshirts will pick second overall in the 2019 NHL Draft after finishing the season with the sixth-worst point total.
The Rangers entered the lottery with a 23.3 percent chance to move up into the top three picks and a 7.5 percent chance of getting the No. 1 overall pick, which went to the Devils. The Chicago Blackhawks will pick third.
Center Jack Hughes and right wing Kaapo Kakko are considered as the top two prospects in this class.
