So much has changed since the Rangers and Flyers last met. The Flyers changed their leadership and the Rangers, who had been flying high on Thanksgiving, have come crashing back to earth.
The teams got together again Sunday in the final game before the NHL goes dark for the three-day Christmas break and the Flyers closed out the pre-Christmas schedule with a 3-2 shootout win, when Patrick Nolan scored the only goal of the tiebreaker in the fourth round before the red-hot Kevin Hayes missed on a do-or-die attempt to keep the shootout going.
The Rangers finish their pre-Christmas schedule with a record of 15-14-6, for 36 points, which leaves them six points out of a playoff spot through 35 games.
