Rangers lose to Caps in OT after rallying in third

Alex Ovechkin scored his second goal of the afternoon and 499th of his amazing career at 1:25 of overtime to push the Washington Capitals past the Rangers 4-3 at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

Trailing 2-0 in the third period, the Rangers scored three goals in 7:17 to grab a 3-2 lead over the NHL-leading Capitals 3-2. But with goalie Braden Holtby pulled for an extra skater, Niklas Backstrom jammed a rebound under Henrik Lundqvist with 5.7 seconds left in regulation to send the game to overtime.

Oscar Lindberg, Kevin Hayes and Viktor Stalberg got pucks past Holtby, who is on 19-0-2 streak in regulation.
