Rangers’ long day ends on sourest possible note

It was already a busy day for the Rangers, but they couldn’t cap it with a win.

The Blueshirts lost to the Red Wings, 3-2 in overtime, on Sunday night at the Garden, getting a point for the first time in six games.

Trevor Daley got a nice tip on a Frans Nielsen centering pass, and that ended it with 5.6 seconds left in the three-on-three extra period.

Early in the morning, the Rangers traded Rick Nash to the Bruins, and just before the game they held an emotional ceremony to hang Jean Ratelle’s No. 19 from the rafters.
