Defenseman Kevin Klein is closer to returning.
The veteran, who missed his third consecutive game Monday after suffering back spasms, participated in the team’s morning skate and appeared to show no discomfort when shooting and skating. Coach Alain Vigneault said he would see how Klein fared during a full practice, likely on Tuesday, before he is in the lineup.
Klein’s value cannot be underestimated. Last season, Klein, 29, tied his career high in goals with nine, assists with 17 and points, with 26. He was 2nd on the team in blocked shots (155) and average time on ice (20:23).
