WASHINGTON - The Rangers forced a Game 7, but just barely.
Chris Kreider scored twice in the first period, Rick Nash and Dan Boyle scored early in the third, and Henrik Lundqvist frustrated the Capitals with 42 saves in a 4-3 Rangers victory Sunday night in Game 6 to tie the series. It was the second straight win for the Rangers, who had trailed 3-1 in the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semifinals.
The Rangers almost blew a 4-1 third-period lead as the Capitals kept constant pressure in the Blueshirts' zone, especially in the final 9:27 after Washington cut its deficit to 4-3.
