Rangers’ Henrik Lundqvist to return after three-game break

Not a lot has changed with the Rangers goaltending situation, which would have been a radical statement in most of the previous 15 years considering Henrik Lundqvist has sat out for three straight while watching understudy Alexandar Georgiev.

However, this is all part of the plan. The 37-year-old Lundqvist isn’t going to play quite as much as in years past, the hope being he stays fresher throughout the whole season. The streak stops here, though, as coach David Quinn had already pinned Wednesday night’s prime-time Garden match against the Red Wings as the return for Lundqvist.

“This is all part of the big picture, managing the amount of games Hank is going to play,” Quinn said before his team’s desultory 6-2 loss to the Senators at the Garden on Monday night, with the club getting Tuesday off.
