COLUMBUS, Ohio — It was a stunning performance from Alex Georgiev, the Rangers goalie making 45 saves while saving his team not only the embarrassment of its desultory performance, but rewarding it with a 3-2 victory over the Blue Jackets on Thursday.
“It’s all about Georgie tonight, that’s for sure,” coach David Quinn said.
This was Georgiev’s third start in the past 10 games, and his first since the 33-save shutout against the Devils in Newark on Saturday. It was the second-most shots he has faced in his career — the most being 55 against the Maple Leafs last February — and he stopped all 16 shots he faced during the Rangers’ five penalty kills.
