So much for that Carl Hagelin trade.
Emerson Etem, whom the Rangers had acquired just this past offseason, was traded Friday to the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for former first-round pick Nicklas Jensen and a 2017 sixth-round draft pick, the team announced.
The Rangers had announced earlier in the day they were sending the 23-year-old Etem to AHL for a conditioning stint. Instead, they unloaded the winger who had registered zero goals and three assists in 19 games this season.
Jensen, 22, was the 29th overall pick in the 2011 draft. The native of Denmark has totaled six points in 24 NHL games over the previous three seasons, though he has spent this entire season at the AHL level.
