Rangers flirt with disaster before bursting through vs. Wild

Facing a reeling Minnesota team that had dropped 8-of-9 heading into Thursday’s game at the Garden, the Rangers still played most of the first 20 minutes lost in a fog.

But after falling behind by two goals less than eight minutes in, the Rangers finally put some pressure on the Wild late in the period and then burst through twice early in the second, sparking a 4-2 win that was capped by Derick Brassard’s goal 5:46 into the third.

Before they scored four consecutive goals, the Rangers had to dig themselves out of a serious hole.

Ryan McDonagh got the Rangers back in the game 3:15 into the second with his seventh goal of the season on a strong second effort.
