Rangers first-year GM Jeff Gorton previews season

Rangers first-year general manager Jeff Gorton gave his first major press conference of the season last Friday when management made its final cuts, and though I incorporated his insights into a few stories, this partial transcript highlights some of the GM’s key observations that afternoon in Greenburgh:

Gorton considers organizational depth improved but not flawless: “We can always be deeper, I’m not gonna lie. You can never have enough prospects, enough players coming at times, but I do feel comfortable with guys like (Jayson) Megna and (Brian) Gibbons and Ryan Bourque and (Marek) Hrivik and (Chris) Summers, and a lot of the guys like Mat Bodie showed, and (Magnus) Hellburg .
