Rangers fall in wild shootout loss to Panthers

It wasn’t exactly a defensive masterpiece, but it sure was entertaining.

In a wild game in which the Rangers lost three different one-goal leads, they ended up going into their first shootout of the season and dropped a 6-5 contest to the Panthers on Sunday afternoon at the Garden.

Rookie Kaapo Kakko kept the shootout alive with a jaw-dropping move in the third round, but Vincent Trocheck finished it with a nice shot that beat goalie Henrik Lundqvist on the glove-side.

The Rangers (7-6-2) were coming off two wins in a row, a back-to-back set both played by goalie Henrik Lundqvist, culminating in his 45-save masterpiece in Raleigh, N.
