TORONTO — Somehow, the Rangers’ faceoff winning percentage of 32.8 during Saturday night’s 5-4 overtime win against the Maple Leafs was only their fifth-worst performance of the season at the dots. As coach David Quinn has been wont to say, “We do things in extremes.”
But the lack of success in the faceoff circle has been concerning for the Blueshirts, as they were ranked second worst in the league on the season at 46 percent. As a matter of fact, the trend precedes Quinn by quite a while, as the club hasn’t been in the top half of the league since 2008-09.
