GREENBURGH, N.Y. — Emerson Etem’s days with the Rangers seem to be numbered, and the winger who was acquired from Anaheim for Carl Hagelin last summer could be traded or waived.
On Friday, Etem, 23, was assigned to the AHL for conditioning, which doesn’t require being exposed to waivers. He is expected to play three games this weekend with the Hartford Wolf Pack, coach Alain Vigneault said Friday.
The Rangers are believed to be trying to negotiate a trade before having to place Etem on waivers, where he could be claimed for nothing in return.
The Long Beach, California, native, was not at practice.
