PHILADELPHIA — Henrik Lundqvist rebounded from Monday’s shaky start with 40 saves, and the Rangers responded to the blowout at the hands of the Pittsburgh Penguins with opportunistic goals and toughness to edge the Flyers 3-2 in a nationally televised matinee on Friday.
The Flyers scored twice on deflections in the third period to trim a 3-0 lead — one with goalie Steve Mason pulled — but the Rangers held on.
Now 5-0-1 in games following a regulation loss this season, the Blueshirts scored twice in a spirited first period that featured their first two fights of the season, including a KO of Brandon Manning by Chris Kreider, who had been challenged by the Flyers defenseman with two seconds to go in the period.
