DENVER – Alain Vigneault revealed Thursday after practice at the University of Denver’s beautiful Magness Arena that he had a “quick” and frank “discussion” with Dan Boyle last week, after which the veteran defenseman understandably was “not thrilled.”
Vigneault’s Thursday practice pairs had appeared to show Boyle returning to the lineup for Friday night’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, following Boyle’s healthy scratch of the season Tuesday night against Washington. Boyle was skating on the third pair in line rushes with Keith Yandle, which would yank rookie Dylan McIlrath back out of the lineup after just his second appearance of the season.
