The Rangers cut down to 25 players after Saturday night’s 4-3 preseason win over the New Jersey Devils in Newark, bringing them within two or three players of their final roster for opening night on Oct. 7 in Chicago.
For now, GM Jeff Gorton and coach Alain Vigneault elected to keep forwards Emerson Etem, Tanner Glass, Jayson Megna and Viktor Stalberg – as well as defensemen Raphael Diaz and Dylan McIlrath – in their latest round of cuts with just two preseason games remaining.
They sent the following players to the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack: Forwards Luke Adam, Ryan Bourque and Brian Gibbons; defensemen Mat Bodie, Ryan Graves, Brady Skjei and Chris Summers; and goalie Magnus Hellberg.
