There are a handful of stars in Rangers training camp, which opened Friday with the first on-ice testing. And yet somehow the early spotlight seems to be shining on a group of young forwards of whom much is expected, carrying the weight of trust the front office and coaching staff has heaped upon them.
Heading that group is Chris Kreider, whose importance to the current team was something coach Alain Vigneault wasted no time in declaring with clear and concise words.
“I look at Chris Kreider and I believe he can be an elite player in this league,” Vigneault said.
