As new Rangers coach David Quinn thinks about wanting his team to be harder to play against, the team signed muscle-bound winger Cody McLeod to a one-year, $750,000 deal Thursday.

The 34-year-old McLeod was picked up by the Rangers off waivers from the Predators in January, and he played 25 games for the Blueshirts, registering zero goals, two assists and 39 penalty minutes. The 6-foot-2, 210-pounder was tied for second in the league with 13 major penalties.

McLeod played 10 years with the Avalanche, where he tallied 659 of his 738 career NHL games.
