Struggling Rangers defenseman Brendan Smith has cleared waivers and will be assigned to the Hartford Wolf Pack.
General Manager Jeff responded “I do” when asked if he thought Smith could find his game in the AHL.
Smith, who was acquired from Detroit at last season’s trade deadline, had one goal and seven assists this season and was scratched for a total of 10 games, as the coaching staff worked on improving his performance.
Smith, who turned 29 yesterday, signed a four-year, $17.4 million contract last summer,
With the move, about $1 million of his salary cap charge can be buried in the minors.
