Amanda Kessel, star of the United States women’s national team, is working with the New York Rangers to grow girls’ hockey in the tri-state area. Kessel is the official ambassador of the Rangers’ new Junior Rangers Girls Hockey program, which will feature an all-girls league, opportunities for girls to try hockey for free, a tournament team, a hockey festival, and more.
The program was announced yesterday before Kessel joined newly-signed Artemi Panarin before the media holding a Rangers jersey of her own.
“Having played the game at the highest level, it’s a great privilege for me to be able to help girls gain more access to hockey,” Kessel shared in a team release, “To be able to grow the girls’ game alongside the New York Rangers is a tremendous opportunity and honor.
