Once the Rangers found out Monday night they were meeting the Washington Capitals in the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, their social-media team enacted capital punishment.
The Rangers’ Twitter account's first tweet after the Capitals defeated the Islanders in Game 7 was "so we meet again #nyr" a nod to the fourth postseason face-off between the sides in the last five seasons and fifth showdown in the last seven seasons. What’s more noteworthy, however, is that they also changed their name on Twitter to "new york rangers," although their Twitter handle is still @NYRangers.
Beginning with that tweet, every tweet since has included only lower-case letters.
