The Rangers made another addition to the coaching staff for their AHL affiliate, the Wolf Pack, on Friday with the hiring of Gord Murphy as associate head coach.
Earlier in the week, Kris Knoblauch was announced as the seventh head coach in the history of the Wolf Pack. The two hires highlight Rangers President John Davidson’s push for developing young talent in the midst of the organization’s rebuild.
Murphy, 52, is coming off of 16 seasons as an assistant coach in the NHL, dating back to 2002. He reunites with Knoblauch after serving on the same staff with the Flyers for parts of two seasons from 2017-18 to 2018-19.
