Daniel Paille joins the Rangers after a long stint with the rival Bruins.

The Rangers and coach Alain Vigneault have deemed their penalty-killing to be such a detriment that they plumbed the depths of players in the minor leagues without NHL contracts and came up Thursday with a deal for 31-year-old forward Daniel Paille.

The former Bruin and Sabre was plying his trade for AHL Rockford, the affiliate of the Blackhawks, whom had cut Paille after training camp and then signed him to a minor-league-only contract. That left the Rangers the option to sign him to a prorated one-year, two-way deal worth $575,000 in the NHL and $100,000 in the AHL.
