The first two nations to release their preliminary WJC rosters were Canada and Finland. One New York Ranger prospect was named to Team Finland while Team Canada will not feature any future Rangers.

Finnish forward Leevi Aaltonen was selected in the fifth round of the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. He had a tremendous season with the Finnish U18 national team with 10 goals and 23 points in 25 games. After scoring 36 points in 29 games in the Finnish junior league, he has been playing for KalPa in the Finnish Liiga, their top pro league.
