PHILADELPHIA – Oscar Lindberg thrived in his move to wing in Tuesday night’s 5-3 preseason loss to the Flyers after playing center in Monday night’s preseason opening home over the New Jersey Devils.
Despite playing on a back-to-back, the Swedish forward emerged with speed and won several battles in the first period, playing on the left wing of center Jarret Stoll and right wing Viktor Stalberg. Most importantly, he capped his strong outing with his second goal of the preseason at 7:03 of the second period and an assist on defenseman Mat Bodie’s goal at 8:20.
Coach Alain Vigneault, who watched Tuesday’s match from the press box, admitted on Monday night that in order to stand out, Lindberg “needs to chip in offensively.
