The Rangers have assigned defenseman Braden Schneider to the AHL. This may seem like a surprise to some, but it’s all part of the Patrick Kane plan. Schneider, likely along with the recalled Ryan Carpenter will be in the AHL for the next 2 days for the Rangers to accrue enough cap space to land Kane before the March 3 trade deadline.
The Ryan Lindgren injury forced the Rangers to pivot a bit and get even more creative with the cap to ensure Kane is a Ranger by Wednesday’s game against Philadelphia, and this was one of those steps.
