NHLPA Approves Amendment To Goalie Interference Rule

Moments ago, the NHLPA announced that their competition committee, which includes Rangers defenseman Kevin Shattenkirk, has agreed to the suggested rule change from the league’s general managers.

The suggested change to the current rule would have the league’s situation room, which monitors every single game from Toronto, have the final say on any goaltender interference call. NHLPA Special Assistant to the Executive Director, and former New York Rangers defenseman, Mathieu Schneider said: “First and foremost, the players want consistency in the application of the rule, and therefore support this proposed change in order to help accomplish that goal.
