When Greg McKegg suits up in New York Rangers blue, it will be his sixth NHL stop. McKegg seems to be one of those players who is perpetually on the periphery of the NHL, a career minor leaguer who gets called up occasionally to fill in for injured players.
That all seemed to change for McKegg on January 4 when he was promoted from Charlotte to the Hurricanes and he made his debut against Columbus. He scored a goal and added an assist and two games later, had another goal/assist game against the Islanders.
He ended up playing a career high 41 games and set personal marks with six goals and 11 assists.
