The New York Rangers were searching for a bottom six center for much of the start of the season. Boo Nieves eventually got the call, and had a spectacular first game. Since then, Nieves has been, more or less, unnoticeable.
Now, a fourth liner not being noticeable isn’t necessarily a bad thing. Sometimes, it even means you’re playing well; that you are not making enough mistakes to be a vivid detriment. However, fourth lines these days need to be offensively impactful to some degree.
While Nieves may be a good enough player to fill that role, the Rangers may just have something a little bit better.
