The biggest positive was the Blueshirts’ 4-2 win over the Dallas Stars, a win that gives the Rangers 78 points in their battle for a playoff spot. They remain three points out of the wild card.

As predicted, the Hurricanes trounced the Detroit Red Wings, 5-2, sealing the deal with three third period goals. Although the game was in Detroit, it would have been a major upset if the Canes had lost this game.
