The New York Rangers made their third and final selection of the first round, 28th overall by selecting Nils Lundkvist.
I believe the Rangers got appropriate value for Lundkvist, who was ranked 14th among European skaters by NHL central scouting. He is a younger player in this year’s draft, currently 17, turning 18 on July 27th.
There may be some regret that the team left players such as Joe Veleno and Bode Wilde on the board at 28.
Production-wise, Lundkvist tallied only two goals and five points overall in 28 games for Lulea in the SHL last season.
