When the New York Rangers inked their final restricted free agent, Ryan Spooner, to a new contract, many in the business thought they were finished for the offseason.
Apparently, they might be wrong.
A rumor surfaced on Twitter on Thursday morning that the Rangers are interested in CSKA Moskva forward Sergei Shumakov.
Shumakov, 25, is currently holding out from CSKA’s training camp over unknown reasons. He is currently under contract and his team is looking to move him to another team in the KHL.
The Rangers, according to the tweet, would like to grab Shumakov if they can figure out a way to buyout his contract.
