New York Rangers General Manager Jeff Gorton announced that the team has agreed to terms of a six year contract with 24 year old defenseman Brady Skjei. As a player with only two years of NHL service and only 24 years old, the Rangers are in essence buying two years of Skjei’s unrestricted free agent years. This long term extension avoids the dreaded bridge deal in which a player can get them selves a huge pay bump on a one or two year deal.
This past season Skjei skated in all 82 regular season games for the Rangers in which he registered 25 points including four goals.
