Harry Howell was one of the greatest Rangers of all time. His number three is retired and has hung from the rafters of Madison Square Garden since February, 2009.
Howell was an iron man who missed only 40 games out of 1,200 in his 17 years as a fixture on the Rangers defense. He scored 82 goals and added 263 assists for 345 points. In his finest season he won the Norris Trophy as top defenseman in the NHL in 1966-67 when he scored 12 goals and had 40 points. Howell was the last player to win the Norris Trophy before Bobby Orr swept the award for eight straight seasons.
