With the New York Rangers set to practice on Thursday, the team announced the recall of Igor Shesterkin.
Shesterkin was assigned to Hartford at the start of the Blueshirts’ bye week, and in two starts with the Pack he stopped 59 of 62 shots to improve his overall stat line to a 1.90 GAA, and a .934 SV%.
For the immediate future the Rangers’ goalie troika will move onward, and you’d figure Shesterkin will get a considerable amount of action. It remains to be seen if the Rangers will demote him prior to the AHL trade deadline so that he’s eligible for the AHL playoffs, but for now it is back to business as usual.
