The team has sent rookie Tom Gettinginger back down to the AHL.
Nieves, 20, has appeared in 20 games for the Wolf Pack, recording one goal with eight points. He had one assist in the Wolf Pack’s 6-3 loss to Syracuse on Saturday.
Nieves has skated with the Rangers for 72 games over the last three seasons, recording five goals with 19 points. Boo appeared in 43 games with the Blueshirts last season, scoring four goals to go along with 10 points.
Gettinger played in two games this season this year and recorded his first NHL point (an assist) Friday night against the Ottawa Senators.
