The New York Rangers drafted Finnish forward Lauri Pajuniemi in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft. He was the 132nd overall pick and was not ranked by NHL Central Scouting. After two average seasons for Turku TPS, he has exploded offensively this year.
This season, Pajuniemi has become a goal scoring machine. He has five goals and one assists in his last six games and nine goals and 11 points in his last 12 games. For the season he has 11 goals in 19 games along with two assists. He is fourth in the league in goals and his six power play tallies lead the league.
