Overall, Tanner Glass was a physical player and was solely meant for that purpose. He didn’t fit into Alain Vigneault’s system of finesse and speed. There was no purpose to have him in the lineup except to fill a spot.
However, for some reason, he was constantly chosen over other (better) players. And it wasn’t limited only to the regular season. In the 2017 Playoffs, he favored Glass over Pavel Buchnevich for quite a few games.
Buchnevich, though, wasn’t the only victim of Vigneault’s Glass obsession. Over the course of Glass’ time in New York, former players such as Oscar Lindberg and Lee Stempniak were scratched in favor of him.
